Accessibility

ritu wants everyone to be able to use this website, including people who use a keyboard, a screen reader, or other assistive tools.

The standard ritu aims for

ritu builds this site to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA, a widely used accessibility standard. ritu is still working toward this, so some parts may not fully meet it yet.

What ritu does to make the site accessible

  • Text is set in colours that stay readable against their background.
  • Buttons and links use colours chosen for clear contrast, not the brand orange, which is too light for text.
  • When you move through a page with a keyboard, the item in focus shows a clear outline.
  • Pages are built to work with a keyboard, not just a mouse.
  • Weather status is shown with words and an icon, never colour alone, so it reads even if you cannot tell some colours apart.
  • If your device asks for less motion, ritu turns animations off.
  • Images carry a short text description for screen readers.

Where ritu still has work to do

What is not done yet:

  • The site has not yet had an independent accessibility audit.
  • Some newer pages are still being improved.
  • The place-search box uses Google’s own component, so it keeps Google’s styling and focus outline.
  • ritu is also working to offer the site in Telugu.
